Put on your red cowboy boots and grab a seat in the big yellow van! Tickets are now on sale for the new musical adaptation of Little Miss Sunshine, beginning performances October 15 at off-Broadway’s Second Stage Theatre. The production stars Broadway alums Will Swenson, Stephanie J. Block and Rory O’Malley, with nine-year-old Hannah Rose Nordberg making her off-Broadway debut. Directed by James Lapine, Little Miss Sunshine will open on November 14.
Little Miss Sunshine features music by William Finn and a book by Lapine. The musical stars Nordberg as Olive Hoover, Block as Sheryl Hoover, Swenson as Richard Hoover, O’Malley as Frank Hoover, Wesley Taylor as Joshua Rose, Logan Rowland as Dwayne Hoover, Josh Lamon as Buddy, David Rasche as Grandpa Hoover, Jennifer Sanchez as Miss California.
Based on the 2006 movie of the same name, Little Miss Sunshine tells the story of an idealistic young girl (Nordberg) who convinces her family to climb into an old VW bus and drive 800 miles to a pre-teen beauty pageant. As they make their journey, a series of mishaps threaten to derail the group’s entire trip.
